Press release -
Norwegian sets new passenger record for third consecutive month
More than 1.3 million passengers flew with Norwegian in July, an increase of 274,000 (26 percent) compared to July 2009. Consequently, the airline sets a passenger record for the third consecutive month.
”I’m very pleased with the great boost in the July traffic figures. The airline industry has been facing turbulent times recently due to the closing of European airspace and third party strikes. However, the heavy passenger growth proves that our customers are confident that Norwegian and the airline industry in general are back on track,” said Bjørn Kjos, Chief Executive Officer of Norwegian.
The load factor was 85 per cent in July, down 3 percent from last year. The airline operated 99.7 of its scheduled flights, of which 79.2 percent departed on time. Norwegian’s punctuality was influenced by industrial actions by third party strikes in Greece and France, in addition to heavy slot delays in Northern Spain, France, Greece and Croatia due to congested airspace.
