Norwegian Reports Strong Passenger Growth for August

Norwegian launches new routes between Scandinavia and Los Angeles (LAX), Oakland-San Francisco (OAK) and Orlando (MCO) in spring 2014. Norwegian will operate the 787 Dreamliner on the routes. At the same time Norwegian launches a new route between New York (JFK) and Copenhagen.
Norwegian has decided to establish a fully owned asset management company. The asset management company will be incorporated under the laws of Ireland and will have USD as its functional currency. Ireland is the largest aviation finance cluster in Europe which makes the country a natural location given Norwegian’s global expansion and large aircraft orders.
Norwegian (NAS) continues to report new passenger records. The July passenger figures are the highest in the company’s history and for the first time more than 2 million customers flew with the airline in a single month.
Norwegian (NAS) reports a second quarter 2013 pre-tax profit of 277 MNOK, an improvement of 152 MNOK from the same quarter last year. The second quarter is characterized by a strong unit cost reduction, solid production growth and a higher load factor. The unit cost reduction of 9 percent was achieved despite start-up costs for the long-haul operation and the establishment of new bases in Europe.
Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA`s presentation of the second quarter results 2013 will take place at 8:30 AM on Thursday July 11th at Felix Conference Center, Bryggetorget 3, Aker Brygge, Oslo. The results will be presented in Norwegian by the CEO, Bjørn Kjos.

Norwegian and Panasonic Avionics Corporation have joined forces to develop the first ever Android™ powered in-flight entertainment system. Norwegian’s passengers will be able to use select Android apps that are pre-loaded onto the system, providing an in-flight experience similar to the on-the-ground experience travelers have become accustomed to with their personal devices.

Today Norwegian took delivery of its first 787 Dreamliner. “This marks a major milestone in our company’s history and I am looking forward to welcoming our passengers on board this brand new aircraft. This is also an important step towards strengthening our position in the market to ensure competitiveness in the future,” Norwegian’s CEO Bjørn Kjos said.

Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA has signed agreements for the transportation of charter passengers from the Nordics to the Canary Islands on behalf of TUI Nordic (Star Tour, Fritidsresor, Finmatkat), Thomas Cook Northern Europe, Kristina Cruises and Vitaltours for the winter season 2013/14.

Mainly operating the short-runway airports in rural Norway, Widerøe operates several state contract routes (PSO routes) in addition to its own commercial network. In 2024, the airline had 3.8 million passengers and a fleet of 49 aircraft, including 46 Bombardier Dash 8’s and three Embraer E190-E2's. Widerøe Ground Handling provides ground handling services at 41 Norwegian airports.
