Largest Ever Aircraft Acquisition in Europe: Norwegian purchases 222 new aircraft

Norwegian has today signed an agreement with both Airbus and Boeing for delivery of a total of 222 new aircraft. The order includes 122 aircraft from Boeing; 100 of the new Boeing 737 MAX8 and 22 Next-Generation 737-800. The Airbus order includes 100 Airbus A320neo. The total agreement is the largest ever in European aviation history and has a contract value at list prices of NOK 127 billion.

Norwegian blir lanseringskunde i Europa for den nye flytypen. Norwegian har også inngått avtale med Airbus om kjøp av 100 Airbus A320neo. Kjøpsordrene har en samlet listeprisverdi på 127 milliarder kroner.

Købsordrerne har en samlet listeprisværdi på 127 milliarder norske kroner, og den samlede ordre er den største nogensinde i europæisk luftfarts historie.

The Norwegian group is a leading Nordic aviation company, headquartered at Fornebu outside Oslo, Norway. The company has over 8,200 employees and owns two of the prominent airlines in the Nordics: Norwegian Air Shuttle and Widerøe’s Flyveselskap. Mainly operating the short-runway airports in rural Norway, Widerøe operates several state contract routes (PSO routes) in addition to its own commercial network. In 2023, the airline had 3.3 million passengers and a fleet of 48 aircraft, including 45 Bombardier Dash 8’s and three Embraer E190-E2's. Widerøe Ground Handling provides ground handling services at 41 Norwegian airports.
